I know that a lot of you partner with Voice of the Martyrs and participate in their many ministries. This is an organization that is very precious to my heart. If you remember, a few months ago I wrote a post giving a plug for one of their ministries named, “Bibles Unbound.” I would still encourage all of you to consider to pray about contributing to the sending out of Bibles to underground Churches. In addition, VOM has a ministry called, “Prison Alert“, which provides you with the opportunity of writing letters to Christian prisoners.
With regards to “Prison Alert”, I received an email tonight from VOM (as I’m sure many of you did also) concerning a man named Mr. Son. Mr. Son, as an army officer in North Korea, was an onlooker as his pregnant wife was kicked in the stomach by the government’s secret police. This event, of course, led to the loss of the child. After this devastating scene, Mr. Son defected with his family to China where he was saved and committed his life to Christ. Not long after his conversion, Mr. Son felt called to be a missionary to his homeland, North Korea. He has since returned to preach the gospel there and eventually was imprisoned and sentenced to public execution in January 2006.
VOM has been working heavily to help secure his release from prison. With the help of “Prison Alert”, over 4,000 letters have been written to Mr. Son and on behalf of his release. Click here to visit his profile on the “Prison Alert” website. VOM wants to increase the campaign to guarantee his freedom. Would you consider praying for Mr. Son and his family as well as perhaps writing a letter to him while he remains in prison? I know that testimonies such as Mr. Son’s always helps to put my Christian life back into proper perspective. Let us remember this brother and his family and pray that God will be glorified through this event and that many souls will be made into new creations by means of Mr. Son’s committment to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
“Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.”
