Andrew Peterson’s New Album Is On The Way!

Volume II ~ Andrew Peterson

Resurrection Letters: Volume II ~ Andrew Peterson

I have some great news! Andrew Peterson has finally signed with a record company and the album he completed this past year is now slated to appear in stores on October 21, 2008. Here is the cool cover for the new album. Including this one, Peterson’s last three CD covers have been pretty creative and also have some of the best artistic representation of the songs on the inside. I hope that this is the case for his new album because this cover is beautiful. It kind of reminds me of Caedmon’s Call’s album 40 Acres. The name, as you can see, is going to be Resurrection Letters, Volume II. Here’s some comments from Peterson on his approach to making CDs:

Whenever it’s time to put a new album together, I look for a common strand that connects all the songs. This time around, it was clear to me that the songs are mostly about resurrection, about the way God makes all things new.

According to Centricity Music (artists such as Downhere, Jason Gray, Circleslide), Peterson’s new record label, as the release approaches, promotion of the new CD will consist of a week full of concerts and events offered the week before October 21. If you remember, last summer Peterson and his buddies, Ben Shive and Andy Gullahorn (who produced the album), set up a blog specifically for allowing fans to observe the record-making process. It was great and we got to see a lot of the songs come together over time. I hope you put this date on your calendar. Peterson is faithful as a songwriter and musician to make music that is Christ-centered, yet artistic and creative. His songs are always honest, personal, and packed full of wonderfully told stories and saturated with the Scriptures. I’m not sure why he’s calling it “Volume II” unless he is counting the New Testament as “Volume I”. I’m sure the CD will explain this subtitle at some point. Anyways, I just wanted to give everyone a heads up about his new album, and to promote and endorse one of my favorite artists so that you may find some music that will spur you on in your walk with the Lord.

  1. The ONE major downside to the demise of LPs and the rise of CDs is the loss of cover art. The covers of LPs were large enough for the cover art to be seen and to be detailed. CDs are just so small…Maybe my favorite album cover of all time was Keith Green’s “No Compromise” that was a picture of one person refusing to kneel in a crowd of people prostrated before some oriental potentate.
