Wyatt at about 14 Weeks

I’m finding out first hand that when people say that your kids grow up fast, they aren’t exaggerating. I know Wyatt isn’t going off to college yet, but it is amazing how quickly he matures and changes right before mine and Kim’s eyes. In just the past few weeks, he has made great strides. He has gone from being completely silent except for when he was crying to now discovering his vocal cords and not being quiet while doing very little crying at all. He is making all kinds of sounds with a ton of different inflections. It’s funny to see him draw up and go from high to low and back to high pitches all in one breath. His face afterwards is usually blood red. Of course when he tries too hard to communicate, he makes himself throw up. I guess it’s a necessary side effect. He’s also figuring out how to use his hands. Two days ago he took his pacifier out of his mouth with his fingers wrapped around the handle, bringing it down to his side, and then after a few moments, bringing it back up, putting it in his mouth all on his own. He’s done a few other similar things using his hands like this which tells Kim and I that he is getting smarter.

His personality is maturing as well. He is now starting to play with me and Kim. One of things he has started doing is when I hold him up off my left shoulder where he is propped up under my arm, he looks back to my right at Kim with a little grin. When he makes contact with her, she swoops in to “get him” and in response, he cackles turning away and burying his head into my neck and shoulder as if he is trying to get away from her. The really funny part about this little game is that he’ll look off in the opposite direction for a few seconds and then slowly turn his head back around towards Kim, looking to see if she is still there. When he sees her, he gets ready for round two.

Here’s some recents pictures of Wyatt. Enjoy.

  1. I just can’t believe how he has grown. Sure can’t wait to get my hands on him. He looks like Kim a whole lot. Hope that you are doing videos too.

  2. yep, he sure is starting to look like Kim. But he’s still got daddy’s killer blue eyes.

  3. It sounds like your turning into a Mommy-Blogger.

  4. I’ve been trying hard to resist it. It would be different if my wife was a blogger. Just so you know, I’ve come close to posting some recipes too.

  5. Because you’re my friend, I’ll give you a limit of 9 baby pics. Once you hit 10 in one post, then you will have crossed the line irrevocably into the mommy-baby-blogosphere.
